With the Passage of the 2014 Farm Bill, Central State University, a historically black college in lWilberforce, Ohio, became the nations newest 1890 Land Grant University, creating new challenges and opportunities for agricultural research and education in Ohio. This presentation will explore how partnerships between 1862 and 1890 land grant institutions have been forged in North Carolina, with collaboration focused on the Center for Environmental Farming Systems. The presentations will be followed by receptions at which new collaborations between faculty and students at The Ohio State and Central State Universities can be explored.
Nancy Creamer holds the Kellogg endowed chair at NCSU as Distinguished Professor of 6ustainable Agriculture and Community Based Food Systems, and is the Director of the Center ' or Environmental Farming Systems(CEFS). Shorlette Ammons is the Outreach Coordinator for CEFS and holds an extension appointment at NCA&T.
Nancy, Shorlette, and OSU's Kellogg chair, Casey Hoy, are members of the Inter-institutional etwork for Food, Agriculture and Sustainability, which has committed to work on racial equity in agriculture and food systems.
