Community of Color Check-Ins (Graduate Students)

Jun 17, 2020, 11:00am - 12:00pm

Many across our college are hurting, especially our students, staff, and faculty of color. The killings of Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, George Floyd, and Tony McDade bring to the forefront issues that have divided Americans for a long time. Black people and people of color are feeling great pain, sorrow, and anger at bearing witness, yet again (and because of technology and the 24/7 news cycle – over and over in HD), to the workings of systemic oppression, racism, and racial injustice. The horrific images we have seen in the last few weeks are not new to us, but they do serve as a reminder that the legacy of violence, inequality, and inequity directed at and endured by people of color for the entirety of our nation’s history, particularly Black people and Black communities, has not abated. These Community Check-Ins will offer a safe space for our CFAES communities of color to gain support and discuss the impact of the recent uprisings against racism and police violence.

A Zoom link will be sent following completion of registration.
